Getting hot water in a Sprinter with a D2L installed

There are two main options for setting up your hot water system:

  1. Calorifier setup:
A calorifier can be connected either to the engine loop or to an Espar Hydronic D5E. The D5E runs an independent coolant cycle that heats the coils inside the calorifier.
You can also equip the calorifier with 12V and 110V immersion heaters, allowing you to use excess solar power to heat your water.

  2. Water plate exchanger setup:
A water plate exchanger can also connect to the engine loop or to the Espar Hydronic D5E. This is an on-demand system, meaning it takes a few minutes to heat up. While it saves space, it does require more plumbing.
